Weekend

On Saturday we decided to go check out Oak Mountain State Park. It is about 15- 20 min from our house. We had heard they had a lake, paddle boats, camping, a petting zoo, horse back riding etc. It was HOT and the kids wanted to play in the water, so when we got there we rented a paddle boat and then let the kids play in the lake. I gave the kids the camera to take some pics- so most of these are what they took!

It was a lot of fun! Damon could play there all day if we'd let him! Now I know a place to take him while the kids are in school and I can get some sun! =) I really need to take advantage of it since just a few short months and my baby will be in full day school too!!

Here is a little video of the paddle boat- Jaymz had just splashed water in my face- that's why I keep wiping it!

While we were letting the kids swim I looked over to the right of us and there was a WEDDING going on! We had boom boxes thumping, kids screaming and a WEDDING! I was DYING! When the bride and groom kissed everyone started clapping- even people not in the wedding party! I think that is what you call Ghetto- fabulous! I keep having to tell myself we are in Alabama= what esle would you expect? James took a couple of pics of the happy couple! =)

Strawberry Picking ~ Lightbulb~ Kindergarten

Yesterday we TRIED to go strawberry picking for playgroup! We all met at the church and carpooled since it was about 45 min- to an hour to get there. It was a nice little drive, but the directions they had on the website were wrong- they had added stop lights since they updated the directions- so after a while of driving-- we stopped to get directions from the little gas station. They helped us find the right road, but then the directions were wrong again and by this time we were in back woods country with no cell service- one of the ladies with us did have service so we used her cell phone to call the place-- um ya, they were picked out the day before so they were CLOSED!!! UGH! So, there was a little market down the way a couple more exits that sold the strawberries and things they grow at the Farm so we decided to at least go get some strawberries! It was a cute little market with a deli and homemade ice cream! I should have taken a pic! Right across the street was a Burger King and since we had been in the car forever and it was lunchtime, we decided to get some lunch and let the kids play on the playground for a min before we had to get back in the car! Damon was a little disappointed we didn't pick strawberries, but he had a good time and in the end we had strawberries for him to eat so it was all good!!

At the playground at Burger King!!

On my way home this is what my temp said! LOVE IT!! =)

At home with his bucket of strawberries!! His FAVORITE!!!

Jaymz has been doing "LightBulb" at school- it's an extra activity where they pick a subject they want to learn more about and then research it, send letters to people in the community about their topic asking for info, and then they put it all together to present it! He worked really hard on this! He stayed in for recess quite a bit to work on it, and stayed after school a few days to get it all done! The kids did a GREAT job! Jaymz was on how to keep the Flu away from you! He is now a PRO on the flu =)
Good Job Buddy!

I signed Damon up for Kindergarten yesterday- I CAN NOT believe by baby is going to kindergarten! I have dreamed about this day, but now that it is here I don't want it here! I have never been sad about my kids going to school until now! I think it might be harder for me than for him!

I bought him this "rest mat" at registration. They told me that in the afternoon the have rest time for 45 min. They don't have to sleep, but they have to rest quietly with their arms and legs on the mat! Oh boy, I can't imagine Damon RESTING!! So, we are going to practice at home I think!

He gets to go to the school on May 5 for a little kindergarten kick off mtg. The kids get to tour the classrooms and meet the teachers while the parents are in a meeting! He is SOOO excited to start school!!

Dippin' Dots

Last week I got a letter from Jaymz school saying his immunization card was going to be out of date as of the 23rd and he needed to go in and get it updated before the 24th or he wouldn't be allowed back to school until he was up to date. I knew Damon needed his 5 year old shots so he could start Kindergarten so I figured why not just take them both to get shots! We had the appointment on Friday- the kids were out of school for a teacher comp day (I know nice mom to make them go get shots on a day off of school huh) It ended up Jaymz couldn't get his because his records were messed up- but they gave Damon his 5 shots he needed- yes 5! He did so good! He cried for a min while they were giving them to him, but he was fine when they were done. They told him he got a sticker for each shot so he could pick out 5- well, it turned out to be like 7 or 8 really! The nurse felt bad for the poor kid!! =)
We got Jaymz figured out so yesterday we took him to get his last chicken pox shot. He asked me on the way home if Doctors give shots too- I told him I think they can, but usually nurses just give them. I asked him why and he said he wanted to be a doctor, but doesn't think he can give a kid a shot!! I thought it was cute!

I had bribed the boys with ice cream if they behaved in the Dr office and let the nurse give them their shots without any trouble! So, last night we took the kids out to dippin' dots for Ice Cream. They LOVE that place! GOOD JOB BOYS! And Aubrey just lucked out and got some ice cream too! =)

One Last Egg Hunt!

We had a couple of families over for an egg hunt and Easter Dinner. I don't think my kids ever would get tired of looking for eggs! We did little prizes- each kid got to find 1 egg with a # on it and then turn it in for a prize! They thought that was fun! James made a Ham a roast and vegetables, we also had salads, rolls, artichoke dip, and an apple pie! I didn't take pics of the food. (I should have though)

My New Stuff

I am so excited about my new table! I think the saddle stools look great! I was really afraid they wouldn't match at all, but they are perfect!! They are really comfy too! I didn't want the formal dining room to be real formal anyway, so I'm happy with how it turned out! (we aren't real formal people!) Now I just need to decorate the room!

I also got a new CAR! My check engine light went on in my van last week and when we took it to the shop, the mechanic said there were transmission problems. We had talked about trading it in a while ago- it was on '02 and had 80,000 miles on it (which isn't horrible, but getting up there) so we decided to check around and see what we could find around the same car payment. We ended up having to pay a little more, but this van is so nice! I LOVE it!! =) I love that it has the nav. system, leather seats, parking sensors and the front bucket seats! (the RED is a nice change in color too! =) It's an '06 Chrysler Town and Country- I had a Town and Country before and loved it so I wanted to stick with the same make and model!

Easter

This morning we had an Easter egg hunt and breakfast at our church. The kids had a good time finding eggs!

The Easter Bunny also came to our house today instead of tomorrow morning. We have early church and the Easter Bunny knew it would be hard to find all the eggs he hid and get to church on time! What a DANG smart bunny we have! =) He gave the kids Rock Band for the Wii, an Icarly board game, and The Little Rascals DVD (one of the kids favorite!) He also hid a bunch of eggs around the house for the kids to find!

Tomorrow we are having a couple of families over for Easter dinner and another egg hunt so I'm sure I'll have more pics later!!
