Soccer and awards

Aubrey had her first soccer tournament on Saturday. It was a long day, but she had so much fun! They had a game at 8:00 AM and won 8-0. Then they played 2 in the afternoon- they won 5-0 and 4-0. They had one last game that night. They were going off a point system. We had 20 points and Vestavia had 18 points, so basically whoever won the game, won the tournament. It was a really tight game all the way through. The game ended up tied 1-1. We each got a point for the tie so we won the tournament!!!! Aubrey got some playing time and even scored a goal in the first game!!




Last week James was in Orlando for the big District Manager Team Week. His goal last year was to win the National District Manager of the Year award. He knew he was in the runnings for it, but wasn't sure if he'd be the one really to get it or not. Well, HE GOT IT!!! He also came home with a few other awards! He was so excited to get the award he had worked so hard to get! He is already working on getting it again this year!!

Damons head and Mardi Gras

Last night, as Damon was going to bed, I heard a big thump upstairs. Then I heard him cry (which he rarely does) so I hollered for him to come downstairs to me. Then I heard him really start screaming so I ran upstairs to see what was wrong. Well, I guess he decided to jump backwards onto his bed (trying to land on his back I guess??) and he missed the bed and hit his head on the corner of his bed. Yes, he is a smart one! haha It was bleeding quite a bit (which I know head wounds do) and he was freaking out that he DID NOT want stitches!! He had to get stitches in his knee a few years ago and it was pretty traumatic for him! James And I decided to call our friend Jeff who is a Surgeon and see what he thought. He told us he could fix it without stitches- it would probably scar but I figure he is a boy and will probably have many scars!! So Jeff butterflied it and put some steri strips on it to close it. Damon was VERY happy he didn't have to get stitches!!! THANK YOU JEFF!!!!

Tonight was the annual Mardi Gras parade in the little shopping center by our house. This year the youth from our Church made a float and were in it. They stapled Pass along cards to Moon pies (a southern favorite) and fruit roll ups and threw them in the parade! I tried to get a good pic of the float as it came by, but didn't get a great one. Aubrey is in the lime green jacket. She said it was really fun! We hung out with some friends and collected TONS of necklaces and treats! We had a great time even though it was like 30 degrees outside- Ü

Snow in Birmingham??

That's right! It's not much to me, in fact it makes me smile when I really think of how little snow it really is- (Growing up in Utah and living in New Hampshire) but for Alabama it is a BIG deal!!! It started snowing about a half hour ago and as soon as it did, I got a call saying that school would be dismissed at 11:30 today. Then I got a call that the Valentines Dance tonight at the middle school is canceled. I had to laugh when they had breaking news when the snow started! I just love the SOUTH!!!
I really like this type of snow though- it is fun for a couple of hours and then it is gone! That is just perfect for me!! The ground is still warm enough that the snow hasn't stuck.
Hopefully the kids got their Valentines parties in today! Damon might be a little upset about that if not.. last night he was telling me about all the girls that are giving him valentines! A little girl Grace in his class told him the other day that "he smelled handsome!" (he has been wearing Michael Jordan cologne) I just love this age! They crack me up!!

Aubreys 1st Soccer Game

Aubrey had her first Soccer Game as a JV player last night! It was an away game in Calera. We were so excited to drive out there and watch! (it's about 40 min away) Turns out Calera doesn't have a JV team, so we were playing their Varsity team. We won 9-1!!! Obviously they weren't that good, but it was perfect for Aubrey (being a 7th grader) to get in there and play without having any pressure!! She got some good playing time and loved every minute of it!! We are excited for the game next week!! Go Bucs!!
