James and I were invited to go to Atlanta to see a Braves game on Saturday with some friends from church. We live about 2 and a half hours away from Atlanta. We wanted to go to Gladys Knights Restaurant, They picked us up about 2:00 so we would have time to eat before the game. We got a little lost when we were trying to find the restaurant, but it was funny...James was talking out the window to people driving next to us asking for directions. One girl pulled out her GPS at the stop light and got us there! (I didn't think to bring ours.. duh) We were laughing though and Gladys and Ron's Chicken and Waffles was good! It was a fun environment too. We were the only white people in the whole restaurant, but I'm getting used to that! :) They had old Gladys music video's and concerts playing on the TV's. It was an R&B, Bluesy feel. It was fun!

We got to the game a little late, but it was all good.. we didn't have to pay for parking then! The Braves won 4 to 3 (they played the Marlins) It was a fun night! We were even home by midnight so it wasn't bad at all!! :)
James thought this billboard outside of the stadium was hilarious so he had to take a pic of it!!

Starting to look like fall already?
I spotted a leaf in the back yard that was already changing color a few days ago... now today there are more showing through! I can't believe it is already starting to look like fall! I guess that's what happens when the kids start school huh?
The kids have been happy with school so far.. I am really impressed with Damon! He is LOVING school! I thought that after the weekend he might give me some trouble getting up and going to school, but he didn't! He was just as excited as the first day! Hopefully that lasts right? I keep asking him if he got in trouble at school and he tells me no. He has told me a couple of times that other kids have had to take a time out, but not him.. and I haven't heard from his teacher or the principal, so hopefully that lasts too!! :) YAHOO!!!

Swim Party
We had a church swim party on Monday. Our Bishop and his family are moving this week so we had a little get together for one last goodbye. They have a son Jaymz age and Damon's age so we are definitely going to miss them!
Before we went to the swim party, it was POURING outside. The boys were already in their swimming suits so they asked if they could go play in the rain! Don't worry, there was no lightning!!

1st Day of School!
It is here!! The 1st day of school! We all were definitely ready! Damon was SO excited this morning for his 1st day of Kindergarten! I even heard him singing in the shower (which isn't really anything out of the ordinary) Jaymz and Damon's bus comes about 10 earlier than Aubrey's but we all just went out together this morning so I could get some pics and Aubrey wanted to see Damon get on the bus! The boys bus came and Jaymz was so cute to help Damon get on the bus! They sat on the same seat together! It was really cute! I was so proud of myself that I didn't cry!! I held it together!! We waited for Aubrey's bus and it never came! The kids were getting nervous so 10 min before school was supposed to start, our neighbor loaded all the kids up in her suburban and took them! About 3 min after they left, the bus came. That bus is really full and I heard a bunch of new kids have moved in down below us this summer so they may have been too full and had to drop a load of kids off first before they could get us. Hopefully they get that taken care of quick!
Damon ready for his 1st day of Kindergarten
The boys ready to go out to the bus
Aubrey.. not thrilled about me taking pictures!
Waiting for the bus.. with his nap mat!
Jaymz helping Damon on the bus
Aubrey and her 2 friends at the bus stop with their converse!
So what do I do now? I'm sure I can find plenty! The funny thing is, I can't wait for them to get home today so I can hear all about their 1st day! I guess I will have to give it a few days to set in and then I'll be great!! :)

Summers almost gone....

I can't believe that summer is almost gone! The kids start school a week from today. Yesterday we registered Aubrey for 7th grade. It was so funny to walk in the school and have a bunch of her friends come running over to her talking about the summer! Girls that age are so funny! Aubrey was excited that she got on the same "team" as most of her friends at school, so they will be able to see each other alot! Her first elective this year will be acting. There is a musical starting in just a couple of weeks that she is thinking about trying out for, and then basketball try outs are in a couple of months.
Jaymz got the teacher he wanted. His friends from last year aren't in his class but he knows quite a few kids in his class this year. He is excited! He also started football. First practice was last night and he said he wished practice could have been longer... it was an hour and a half!!! He loves playing Football! One of his friends from church is on his team, so he is really looking forward to this season!! :)
Damon got his teacher for school. I'm not familliar with the kindergarten teachers at their school so I didn't really care who he got. She sent a letter telling a little bit about herself and she said she taught school for 18 years in Louisiana then moved here. She substituted and was a teachers aide for 3 years and then started teaching Kindergarten at our school and has been teaching kindergarten here for 13 years now!! So, she has been around the block! Hopefully she and Damon will work well together! I think he definitely needs a teacher that is going to be a little strict and not let him get away with a lot or he will walk all over her! I think it will be a good year!
The PTA asked me to be over publicity for our school, so I will be collecting information from teachers and staff and then submitting them to the newspapers and mewdia around town. I've never done publicity and don't really know what I'm doing but they assured me it wouldn't be a big deal and I would do fine... so, we'll see!! That should keep me a little busy and keep me in the know of what the school is doing! I guess I really am moving on to my new phase of life with no kids at home all day!!!
James is doing well! He is LOVING work! He has stayed in the top 10 districts in the company (out of 99) all year and is proud of that! He has about 20 stores that he is over and loves coaching and mentoring the managers and staff! He is working toward becoming a regional vice president so we think we are settled here for a couple of years! We will see though- :)
That's about it for us! Hope everyone had or is having a great summer!!!
PS Damon has lost 2 teeth in the last month
