Kindergarten Luau

I can't believe the school year is over! This year has flown by! I feel like I was just saying how sad I was that Damon was starting kindergarten and would be gone all day! Damon has had the GREATEST teacher this year! She has been EXACTLY what he needed! (not to mention he had her wrapped around his little finger) I also have to say- I can't believe we made it through the year without a single visit to the principals office--Not even close!! James and I already had "the plan" of what we were going to do WHEN it happened! Turns out he must have been bored or something at home because he was GREAT at school!! (Or maybe it was the parenting at home???) NAW... Ü

All the kindergartens classes got together this afternoon and had a Luau. They had a great time together! We'll see what 1st grade has in store for us!!! I'm in denial a little that I will have 2 kids in middle next year!! CRAZY!!
The kids have been counting down the days until school is over- not only is school out on Wednesday, but James family is coming to visit that day!! YAY Let summer begin......

Our good friend Lindsey Leavitt is a great little author and has a new book out. She has been doing book signings all over and we have waited patiently for her to come to Birmingham so we could have her sign our book! The book is Princess For Hire it's a really cute tween book.

Fathers and Sons

Last weekend James took the boys to the Fathers and Sons camp out. James got home from work a little later than he had expected so he was in a hurry to leave. I was thinking to myself- I hope he didn't forget anything! So As soon as they pulled up to the camp out Damon said "dad, I know something we forgot... MY SHOES!!" Seriously? That would be Damon for ya! so, needless to say, I got to take a little drive later that night! Luckily they were only about 20 min away from home.

Aubrey wanted to have a friend over, I figured why not, so she and her friend Emme hung out watched a movie and ate a TON of candy!!

Mothers Day

I had a great Mothers Day yesterday! It started off waking up SICK! UGH.. So I slept in! Then Aubrey made me French toast. Jaymz picked some roses from outside and put them in a nice vase for me. Damon came up and told me to close my eyes and he'd help me walk down the stairs so I wouldn't trip! (He did a great job!) I sat down to my yummy meal only to notice as I was about to pour the syrup on my french toast that it wasn't syrup-- it was SOY SAUCE!! -- Typical Aubrey move right there! It was an accident and I didn't pour it so it was all good!! Ü I still wasn't feeling well so I stayed home from church- luckily I wasn't in charge of anything in primary this week! I slept the whole 3 hours!!
When James and the kids came home I got up and took some cold medicine and tried to get going! We were having our friend Ryan coming over to cook dinner for a bunch of people! He is a Sushi chef so he wanted to do a big Sushi dinner for everyone! I don't eat sushi so James decided to cook Filipino food too!! It was so yummy! Everyone LOVED the sushi and James food!! It turned out to be a really great day with great food and great friends!!!

James also got me a new camera for Mothers Day!! A couple of years ago I had a nice camera and left it on a park bench in New Hampshire. I have been wanting another one and I got one!! It is a Cannon Rebel xsi Im excited to figure it out and be able to have a good camera again!!

Lightbulb

Jaymz was in lightbulb again this year at school. They had the news there and it was also in the newspaper!
This is the little write up they had about it:
Lightbulb projects are designed to allow the students to pursue "self-selected" areas (within guideline topics) by gathering advanced content and assuming the role of first-hand inquirer. Cpmpleting lightbulb is an in depth and time-consuming experience. The students thoroughly research their projects by writing, faxing, emailing, calling, or conducting web cast interviews with experts. They check out materials fromt he library and access trusted websites. Some students take individual field trips related to their topic of interest.

Jaymz chose tsunamis. He mainly focused on the Phillippines. He made a glogster (blog) to show his topic.
