Christmas Eve

This year we decided to open presents from my side of the family on Christmas Eve at the same time and then call each other right after to say our thank yous! So after dinner we opened up some presents- the kids thought that was GREAT!! Damon didn't want to stop!

Another Snow Day!!!

Well once again there is no school due to the snow! The kids are a little sad today about no school because they are supposed to be doing fun Christmas things these last 2 days of school. Jaymz was having his holiday party and gift exchange. I'm not sure why they were doing it today instead of tomorrow- but it looks like it will have to be tomorrow now!!
So far we have about 6 or 7 inches and it is still snowing. I think it is supposed to snow until around 5 PM. Jaymz has scouts and Aubrey has activity days tonight- (at the church) so we'll see if that happens. Hopefully it doesn't take James 5 hours to get home tonight either!!

They say they haven't had this much snow before Christmas in YEARS- Last year here they didn't get their first snow fall until mid January!
I guess the extreme temperatures just like to follow us! Lucky us! :)

Well I think I'm going to make the kids do their chores today since they are home and can help! I know- what a mean mom! I figure they may as well help and get the scrubbing done so maybe Sat. we can go do something fun!!

Jaymz Winter Concert

It's that time of year again for the good ol' winter concert at school! Jaymz really wanted to be in the choir- it was optional - all the practices were during school so that was pretty nice!! Jaymz did great! Damon not so great!! :)

Mr. Clean??

Damon has been cleaning like crazy lately! I'm not complaining, I just think it is funny that DAMON is cleaning! I bought some of those disinfectant wipes from Costco and I think that's what he likes- I came home from going to lunch with some ladies from church and my house had this really clean smell- Yep- Damon had wiped down the walls, the fireplace and the fireplace poker, broom etc. He has used up a whole container (costco size) already. ANYTHING he can wipe down he will! He does a really good job though so who cares huh! Today I came downstairs to hear the vacuum going. He has always loved the sound of the vacuum- when he was a newborn I would turn on the vacuum and let it run for a half hour if I needed to get things done without a baby screaming! Even Aubrey would say mom, can I turn on the vacuum?-- when he was crying! He will intentionally break cookies or spill chips on the floor so he can vacuum them up!! He is so funny!!

just a thought......

I was thinking about how different this Christmas is going to be and already is being so far away. When we lived in Vegas the kids and I (James always had to work) were able to go to my mom's big Christmas Party that she throws for all our extended family usually a week or two before Christmas and then our immediate family exchanges their gifts. It's a little sad to think of missing that! The kids will miss opening their presents with cousins and grandma and grandpa!!
On the other hand, We have been so blessed to move to an area where the people are so nice and inviting! We were invited to Thanksgiving by 4 different families, 2 Christmas parties and 2 New Year's Eve Parties (kids invited too) by people we go to church with. A lot of the families here (that we go to church with) are basically in the same boat as us- No family close -so they all act as one big family! I'm so thankful to be able to have the church anywhere we go and have people with the same beliefs and standards around us!

Blasted again!

Well we got blasted with snow again! They even canceled church ! There is big talk that the power could even go out for days! CRAZY STUFF!! When we woke up this morning this is what we found!! We can't even open up our front door right now!! Hopefully there is school tomorrow!!! :) All these school closures are going to make me NUTS!!

Sledding at the Park

We took the kids sledding at a park in Nashua today- There is a HUGE hill for sledding and the also have an area of ice that you can skate on. I couldn't believe how many people were there but the kids had SO much fun!!! Here are some pics and videos

SNOW SNOW SNOW

Holy Cow did it snow today!!! Maybe because we aren't used to the snow again yet but it seems like we got SOOO much snow today!! We got about a foot in about 6 hours. Both Aubrey and Jaymz buses were almost an hour late each bringing them home. Aubrey got home after dark! Granted it gets dark at 4:30 but still! James was helping with an audit today so he couldn't leave early- he left at 4:00 and isn't home yet- it's 8:50 PM right now!! He has about 15 miles until he is home but he said they are going about 15 miles per hour!!!! CRAZY!!

Here are some pics of the snow- I shoveled a couple of hours ago but it was still snowing. We had no snow on our driveway or walkway before the storm this afternoon!!

A Good Deed

Jaymz brought home a note from school saying that he was going to do a good deed and when it was done I needed to sign it and send it back to school so he could put a star on his ornament. The good deed he chose was to shovel our neighbors driveway. I thought it was cute that he chose to help her instead of one of us around the house. He has been waiting all week to be able to do it and last night it snowed again so he got to do it today!! She is an older widowed lady so that was nice to think of her even though we don't know her real well!!

Still a little confused about what sledding really is

The kids have been having a blast sliding down the stairs! Well-- Damon has been having a blast- Aubrey and Jay just get hurt! Damon thinks it's great because he can beat them down! What a fun little game!!

-THE KIDS HAVE TO BE WEARING SNOW PANTS AND BOOTS TO BE ALLOWED TO PLAY ON THE PLAYGROUND AT RECESS

-YOU HAVE TO CHECK THE TV WHEN YOU WAKE UP TO SEE IF SCHOOL IS CANCELED, DELAYED OR ON TIME

-THE KIDS ARE MAD THAT IT'S ONLY 12 DEGREES OUT BECAUSE IN ORDER TO GO OUT TO RECESS IT HAS TO BE AT LEAST 20 DEGREES

-THERMAL UNDERWEAR IS CONSIDERED LINGERIE

SNOW DAY!!!

THE KIDS ARE SO EXCITED TODAY- SCHOOL WAS CANCELED BECAUSE OF ALL THE SNOW WE GOT OVER NIGHT!! I THOUGHT HERE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE THEY WOULD BE USED TO A LOT OF SNOW AND WOULDN'T HAVE TO CANCEL SCHOOL BUT I GUESS I WAS WRONG!!! SO FAR WE HAVE ABOUT 6-7 INCHES!!

FIRE WOOD

We found a guy that sells fire wood so we bought a load of it from him. We have been buying it from the grocery store and that isn't cheap!! We are FREEZING here so we NEED the fire!! :) It is 22 degrees today. YUCK
Of course our big helper was in on all the action!!! While they were worried about their priority I was worried about mine!!
